I love Rock and Roll
I was thinking about my favorite bands and musicians. And I realized, 'damn' I'm old. Yep, I am stuck in the '70s and '80s when it comes to music. Oh, and maybe a bit in the '60s. Yep, that makes me almost as old as dirt.
I almost hate to admit that the first concert I ever attended was The Beatles. And my next concert was The Monkees.
My taste in music has not changed one bit. I still prefer the old time 'Rock and Roll.'
I like nothing better than coming across a music video on Facebook of one of my favorite bands. Watching and listening to those so-called old rockers makes me happy.
Brings back memories of the good old days when I was young and, life was so much less complicated.
I have just never been able to connect with the music of today. You could say, I am set in my ways when it comes to music. Now, I do listen to more Country Music now than I did when I was younger. But then, I grew up with a mother who listened to Country all the time. So, it's not like that was a significant change in my music preferences.
I don't even know who the most popular singers and musicians are today for sure. And, is it wrong that I can't say whether it was Lady Gaga or Katy Perry singing on the radio. I know their faces, but not their music. Do you think, I should give them a try? Never mind, I have no interest.
But I sure as heck, know the Beatles from the Rolling Stones, David Bowie from Rod Stewart, Queen from The Who...you get the picture.
I have not been to a concert in a long time. But my three favorites of the ones I have been to would be:
The Beatles-No explanation needed there. But the fact is that attending a Beatles concert meant non-stop screaming and everyone standing on their seats. Which needless to say didn't exactly lend to getting any good views of The Fab Four. But it is something I will always remember. Olympia Stadium in Detroit where they performed is long gone, but the memory lives on.
The Rolling Stones-It was a great concert performed by a Great Band. Location was Auburn Hills, Michigan at the Silver Dome.
Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show-I probably had the most fun of any concert at this one. The show was outdoors at Castle Farms located in Charlevoix, Michigan. The guys were just awesome. Funny as hell. Just a great show. R.I.P. Ray Sawyer.
Well enough about my music ramblings. I have decided to give some serious thought to stepping out of my music comfort zone. Maybe I will listen to a Lady Gaga and a Katy Perry song. I will get back with you at some point on who I liked better.
And Remember, I am old and set in my ways. Not much I can do about that, right?
