Give Up These 6 Things If You Want To Be Happy

Give Up These 6 Things If You Want To Be Happy

"Nothing can bring you happiness but yourself." – Ralph Waldo Emerson

For many of us, happiness always seems just out of our reach. Why is that? Maybe it's because we are doing nothing to achieve happiness. Sitting back and thinking that happiness will one day knock on our door is highly unrealistic.

Some people think that having more and more material things will bring them happiness, a flashy car, expensive jewelry, or a big house.

More and more material possessions are generally not the path to happiness. Maybe instead of adding things to our life, we should eliminate the things that are not adding value to our lives.

"Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you."

Stop Doing These Six Things-You Will Be Happier

Stop listening to the news.

I have concluded that more time is spent on bad than good news. It's hard to be happy when continually bombarded with bad news. And the information is constantly repeated over and over. So you don't just hear that bad news once you hear it repeatedly. Very depressing. So at least limit your time listening to the daily news.

Stop spending so much time on social media.

We waste so much of our time on social media platforms. Our time spent on social media could be better spent on things that make us happy—lunch with a friend or a phone conversation with a loved one. How much real happiness is found scrolling through Facebook or Twitter? Good question. But I don't recall feeling happier after repeatedly scrolling through Facebook or Twitter. I usually think about how I wasted so much time. I could have been doing something fun.

Stop always thinking about what you 'SHOULD' be doing.

Ask yourself do I need to do it? Would I be happier not doing it? Does it have to be done right this minute? Do you think about things you think you should be doing when you are doing something you enjoy? Are you kicked back, reading a book or watching a movie, and suddenly thinking 'I SHOULD' ... Stop feeling guilty about the 'SHOULDS. Be kind to yourself. Enjoy some 'ME' time.

Stop living in the past.

Leave the bad memories and mistakes of the past in the past. And keep and treasure the good memories of the past. You can't focus on the bad things in your history and expect to have happiness in the present. It's time to move on.

Stop comparing yourself to others.

Sure, every one of us, at one time or another, has compared ourselves to others. I wish I had that girl's hair or could dance like that woman. What you get when you compare yourself to others is usually frustration and unhappiness. Take a few dance lessons, try a new hairstyle, and move on. We are who we are.

Stop trying to impress others.

The time you spend trying to impress others would be better spent on yourself. Better to spend your time just being who you are. You are wasting precious time you could use to better yourself. Life will become less stressful if you are not constantly worrying about impressing others. Believe in yourself and celebrate your accomplishments. You don't always have to prove yourself to anyone. Try just Impressing yourself. It's okay to praise yourself. 'Wow, I did a great job.' Or maybe it's a new dress you look stunning in. "Damn, I look great in this dress.

"Being yourself is all it takes if you want to impress someone don't be someone else just be yourself."
