Fall has arrived, and the trees are shedding their brightly colored leaves. The temperatures are getting cold, and we are heading into Winter. Yes, cold and snowy Winter is coming our way.

If you are not a winter person, it's time to start seriously preparing. I am strictly a summer person. So Winter is a cold long, drawn-out season for me. It seems to last forever. But we have to suck it up and make the most of it.

8 Ways To Start Preparing Yourself for Winter

Make a list of all your favorite cozy seasonal foods. Get your shelves stocked with all the needed ingredients. Nothing is more warming and inviting than hot soups and stews.

Invest in some warm Winter apparel. You may have to spend a bit more, but make sure your boots are warm and waterproof. Shop for some fleeced-lined joggers or fleeced-lined ski pants for warmth. You can even find fleece-lined pants that you can wear inside. Flannel shirts and thermal underwear can always hold off the cold. A definite must would be cozy warm pajamas. Warm slippers, and don't forget hats and gloves.

Hot chocolate has always been a winter beverage for me. Add some mini marshmallows or whipped cream, and it's the perfect cozy winter beverage. And you can find hot chocolate with caramel, cherry, mint and many other flavors added to it. It's going to be a long winter, so try them all. Of course, you may also enjoy some hot cider.

Warm bedding is essential this time of year. Fleece sheets are one of my winter necessities. And for added warmth, add a heated mattress pad to your bed.

Stock up on reading material. Winter is a great time to settle in for some serious reading. Check out your local bookstore; use a kindle reader and sign up for kindle unlimited. Whatever your choice, make a list of the books you are looking forward to reading. Make it a long list.

Television bingeing list. Time to watch all your favorite old series again. Or check out some new series that might become new favorites. Cover up with a warm throw and some popcorn and enjoy.

Plan some fun get-togethers. Hosting a get together at your home means you don't have to go out in the cold. See, I am always thinking. Invite some friends or family over for a movie night or a game night.

Make a trip to the drugstore and stock up on cold and flu supplies. And don't forget your flu shot. It's hard enough to deal with Winter without being sick. Don't forget the Kleenex. You know Winter brings runny noses.

In closing I would just like to say even though you may hate winter. It wouldn't hurt and might even help to step outside during the winter and take a walk, especially if the sun is out. The sunshine will do you do good. It doesn't have to a long walk, but at least get some fresh air and sunshine. Bundle up in your warm clothes and give it a try. Maybe even make a snowman at least once during the winter. Then grab the hot chocolate and a warm throw and kick back. I know I am talking crazy but try it.

"My one wish is that its Summer all year round!"
