Spring Is Almost Here In Michigan

Spring Is Almost Here

March is finally here, that means spring is only weeks away. Spring is such an exciting time of the year. The trees will soon be turning green, and the flowers will be blooming. The days will be warmer and more extended. Things are coming back to life. We all seem to feel a sense of renewal. The excitement mounts the closer we get to spring.

One of the best things about the arrival of spring is we can shed those winter coats, hats, and gloves for another year.

Put those snow shovels and ice scrapers away too — such a huge relief when the threat of snow and ice is over.

The days will be getting warmer, and the activities we engage in will be changing. Instead of the skiing and skating here in Michigan, we will be looking forward to our favorite annual events.

Just a few of the popular events coming in Michigan this spring:

The National Trout Festival in Kalkaska. The Trout Festival runs from April 22 -April 24. Three days of fun in Kalkaska. Events Include a Classic Car Show, flea market, kids fishing contest, Skerbeck Family Carnival, music entertainment and much more.

Last years festival was canceled due to the Covid. Precautions are being put in place so that everyone can enjoy a safe event this year.

Holland Tulip Time Festival in Holland-The Tulip Festival runs from May 2-10 Artisan Market on Saturday, May 4th 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tulip Time Run starts at 8:00 am -11:00 am on Saturday, May 4th. The Tulip Festival is a beautiful event well worth the trip. The tulips are breathtaking! Over 5 million tulips are ready to bloom in early spring.

It's the 59th year that Boyne City has hosted the National Morel Mushroom Festival in Boyne City-It runs from May 16-19. If you are a Morel mushroom lover join the hundreds of mushroom hunters from around the country, who come seeking the favorite Morel. Food, music, carnival, arts and crafts and much more.

Opening day for The Detroit Tigers is March 30th against the Kansas City Royals.

Spring is an excellent time to spend an afternoon at Henry Ford's Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. Experience three hundred years of history. It is an amazing place to visit.

Mackinaw Island 72nd Annual Lilac Festival happens Jun 5-14. Many activities are going on during the ten-day festival. They crown a Lilac Queen; you can enjoy wine tasting and carriage tours and much more.

So those are some of the things we look forward to here in Michigan during the spring. What about where you live? Would love to know what others look forward to in the spring.

One of the best things about spring arriving for me is that summer is not far behind. Spring is lovely, but summer is my season!
