The first thing to do is to declutter. Then do a good cleaning of the bathroom, ensuring that the tile and grout are looking good.

Once the cleaning is out of the way, it's on to the fun stuff. Below are some ways that you can easily change up your bathroom and give it a new look.

A fresh coat of paint is a great place to start. But choosing a color is not always easy. So start by thinking of your favorite colors. Make a trip out to a paint store and pick up a bunch of the sample swatches. I believe choosing a paint color is one of the hardest things about changing up a room. But it's all about your taste and what you make you feel good.

New blinds, curtain or valance for the window will always shake up a room. There are so many choices out there. Something bright that makes that window stand out. How about a pretty decorative roman shade?

New shower curtain. I am not a fan of shower doors, especially the older ones. They are so hard to keep clean. And some shower doors seem to come off the track regularly. But a shower curtain can easily be tossed into the washer and made fresh again. And the best thing about shower curtains is that replacing them is one easy way to make a noticeable change in your bathroom. You can choose from a vast selection of designs and colors.

Wall Decor-Plaques and bathroom themed prints are readily available. A new mirror for over the vanity. I had a photo enlarged that I had taken of Flamingos at the San Diego Zoo, and it looks fantastic in the bathroom. Be creative and pick those things that you like.

Pretty towels and bathroom rugs can jazz up the look of your bathroom. Some fresh new towels can provide a perfect opportunity to add some pops of color to the room. Thick fluffy towels add a look of luxury. And speaking of towels, maybe a new towel rack for those fluffy towels.

New bathroom accessories-There are so many different accessories you can add to your bathroom.

Start with the basics—toothbrush holder, soap dish, soap dispenser, and a tumbler.

Then on to those practical but decorative pieces. A pretty tray that you can place your toothbrush holder and soap dish on provides a classy touch. Maybe a small basket to hold some washcloths or hand towels. I love the look of glass canisters for cotton balls, Q-tips, and soaps.

And of course, you are going to need a cute trash container. But maybe not so attractive that guests hesitate to toss their trash into it.

Changing up your bathroom doesn't have to include a total makeover. Maybe just some new towels and a rug. Or just a quick shower curtain change. It all up to you and your budget.

Changing your bathroom up can be as easy as a trip to Kohl's, TJ Maxx or HomeGoods. Or just a quick order placed on Amazon. Do your homework and watch for sales. Make a list of the items you want and do some comparison shopping.
