Easy Ways To Keep Your Clutter Under Control

Easy Ways To Keep Your Clutter Under Control

"Clear clutter. Make space for you."

Magdalena Vandenberg

Keeping clutter under control is a never-ending job. You have to stay on top of things. If you have managed to get your home decluttered, now begins the job of maintaining it.

Never bring anything into your home without asking yourself a few questions. Do I need this? Where will I put it? How often will I use this?

Sort the mail immediately when it comes into the house. Toss the junk mail and have a specified location for bills and anything else that requires your attention.

Place a small trash container in every room.

Don't put things down-put them away!

Don't put that jacket on the back of that chair. Hang it up where it belongs.

Don't hang onto broken items.

If it's important to you, it should have a place. And when you are finished using it is should be placed back in its place.

Spend ten minutes once or twice during the day, picking up things and putting them where they belong. You know those places. We all have those areas that seem to beckon us to drop everything right here!

The counter in the kitchen where everyone sets the dirty dishes down. The dining room table that attracts anything and everything. The four pairs of shoes that end up kicked off in the entryway. The toys that didn't get put away. The list goes on and on. Take the time throughout the day to clean the clutter. We are only talking a matter of minutes.

Most importantly, don't give up if you have a bad day or a bad week or even a bad month. It happens to all of us. Just get back on track. Start picking up, putting away, and throwing things out. You will be back in the swing of things before you know it.

Keep in mind how good you feel when your house is clutter-free.

"You are the boss of clutter, not the other way around."

Monika Kristofferson

"A Place for everything and everything in its place."

Benjamin Franklin
